Grand Prix rules
Eligibility: All club members having paid their dues are entered into the Grand Prix.

Events: Each winter, the Board of Directors selects a slate of races for the Grand Prix, establish the minimum number of events club members must complete to qualify for a final score and, the maximum number of events that count towards the final score. For 2008, there are 10 Grand Prix races.

Minimum number of races to qualify: Members must complete at least 5 Grand Prix races to qualify for a final score, and each member’s final score will be based on his or her best 8 Grand Prix races. Members who complete between 5 and 8 events will have final scores based upon their point totals for all events completed.

Scoring: Club members receive points in overall and age-group categories for each Grand Prix race they complete. Overall points are based on how each member places compared to all other club members of the same gender who complete the race. Age-group points are based on each member’s place compared to all other club members of the same sex and in the same age group who complete the race. Overall and age-group points and scores remain independent of each other.

Points will be awarded as follows:
1st place - 10 points
2nd place - 9 points
3rd place - 8 points
4th place - 7 points
5th place - 6 points

Awards: Awards will be based on members’ final scores. Categories are 1st, 2nd, 3rd overall male/female, 1st, 2nd, 3rd in each age group male/female, no duplication of awards.
