Below are results of the Power Line/Gun Club Fun Run, edition # 5. I made up a new course again (no sense having people anticipate what’s around the bend), but I made sure to include my most special water crossing complete with it’s attendant wildlife, plus a rubber alligator and snake, which some of the participants saw before they both went missing. A cardinal rule in this household is never, ever touch the wildlife and cause them to disappear!!

Sheryl Wheeler and Joe Michaluk, both residents of the “hood” and both living practically within shouting distance of me, took the top two places. Perhaps a local bias, but more likely just spectacular running. Sheryl, unless she tells me otherwise learned her lesson from last year and ran straight and true, staying on course to snatch the overall win. Joe, who runs some of these trails and may have learned a few new ones, misfired twice and passed some warning tape, costing him some time. Bad boy!!

On a hot day we had 32 participants and two dogs; the Briggs’ dogs were relegated to the yard, Tansie being antiquated and Jack having been over the course about 4 times in the last two days. My thanks go to Harold Briggs who stood on course, Doug Freese, who sent runners into the woods and then helped at the finish (and party, of course), Cody Vincent, the best finish line crew and instruction giver a person could want, and Kathy Cremen and her dog Mackenzie, who swept the course. All participants were accounted for and no one got badly lost, a great relief, to say the least.

Thanks to all who did venture out to run and to those who came just to hang out. Prizes were awarded in open and masters, midpack. The male winner under 40 was Mike Schabot and the male winner over 40 was Manson Faust. The female winner under 40 was Jacque Schiffer and the female winner over 40 was Lori Hedrick. Lori and Manson left before I gave out awards, so we drank theirs!! I owe them both a bottle of beer.
