Fall 2021 ORC Adopt-a-Highway Cleanup – Saturday, October 30, 2021

The Onteora Runner’s Club will host its Fall highway cleanup on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 8:30 am. As a way to give back to the community that supports us, ORC adopted a 1-mile stretch of road on Highway 209 between Sawkill Road and Rt. 28 and we need your help to fulfill our obligation to clean the highway twice a year.
We will meet at the pull-off on the north side of the highway at the eastern side of “our” highway. A safety briefing will be conducted at 8:30 am, followed by the clean-up. We will be cleaning both sides of the highway, but will not be cleaning the median. Vests and safety helmets as well as cleaning supplies to disinfect equipment will be provided.
If you wish to participate, please bring the following for your personal use, as these items will not be provided:
• Water
• Gloves
• Masks
• Hand Sanitizer
• Sturdy Footwear
• Long Pants
Social distancing rules will apply for the clean-up, and if you are within 6 feet of someone not of your household, you will be asked to wear a mask. Children 12-17 can participate, as long as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
If you plan on attending, please RSVP to Phil Canion at Canion123@hotmail.com . Also, contact Phil with any questions you may have or there is inclement weather predicted.
This is a great activity to give back to our community. And remember, the more help we have, the easier the work will be!
We look forward to seeing you on April 17th!
